Board of Education President Deborah Oriola, Board member Bob Winchester,
and Superintendent Susan Kay Salvaggio met with state Senator Hugh Farley on
Tuesday, July 30, to thank him for the special aid he secured for the
district in the current state budget.
The $275,000 in special aid was instrumental in helping the district lower the tax levy in the voter-approved budget for 2013-14. District leaders saved a portion of the allotment to help in the future.
"You are well aware of the financial challenges faced by the district and have demonstrated your concern by taking action to obtain this special aid for Niskayuna Central School District," Superintendent Salvaggio said, reading from a letter to the senator. "We have many challenges ahead of us, and we look forward to our continued partnership, excellent channels of communication and shared actions to sustain the excellence of our Niskayuna Schools - the foundation and trademark of our community."
