Marna Meltzer named an assistant principal for Niskayuna High School

Marna Meltzer has been named an assistant principal at Niskayuna High School. She has been the administrative dean at Bethlehem Central High School since 2007.

Meltzer replaces Rebecca Gleason, who left the district earlier this month to become an assistant principal at Guilderland Central High School.

At Bethlehem, Meltzer has been responsible for student discipline, teacher supervision, and a variety of program and school initiatives, policies, and procedures. Prior to becoming administrative dean, she was a Spanish teacher at Bethlehem Central High School for 13 years.

"Marna's skills and extensive experience in everything from school climate to instructional strategies and supervision make her an excellent fit for Niskayuna High School and our culture of excellence," Superintendent Susan Kay Salvaggio. "She is student-focused and collaborative. We welcome her to Niskayuna."

Meltzer was at Niskayuna High School for the opening days for students, will officially begin with the district the week of September 16.

Meltzer has a bachelor's degree in communications and Spanish and a master's degree in foreign language and educational linguistics from Syracuse University. She earned her certificate of advanced study in educational administration and policy from the University at Albany.
