Birchwood's Grade 4/5 Drama Club turned the school into a world of pure
imagination - and positive energy - with a production of "Willy Wonka" on
Thursday, March 26. They presented the "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"
spin-off at a school-wide assembly in the morning, and reprised their
performance for family, friends, and community members that evening.
"We are so excited to bring Willy Wonka to Birchwood. It's a fun-filled show but one that brings with it an important lesson for our students," Lisa Luyckx, 4th grade teacher and Drama Club co-teacher said ahead of the show's opening. "This is a new play for our school, and the kids, as always, have risen to the challenge!"
Birchwood's Drama Club has been a success through the After-School Enrichment Program. "Congratulations to the talented students and a heartfelt thanks to the teachers, staff, and parents who take time - outside of school hours - to make these memorable experiences possible," expressed Debra Berndt, Birchwood Principal. "It is a community effort and demonstrates the commitment of its members."
