Fall harvest in the Iroquois garden

This past week, the Iroquois Middle School Garden Club has been busy harvesting their crop of potatoes and carrots that they planted in July.

The students grew and harvested 51.5 pounds of Yukon Gold potatoes, 48 pounds of red potatoes, and more than 35 carrots. Each gardener was able to bring home nearly 7 pounds of potatoes to their families and the rest will be used as seed potatoes for next years garden!

In addition, the gardeners harvested basil throughout the month of September, which was used to create 48 ounces of starter pesto. The pesto will be used in the Home and Careers cooking labs later in the school year.

The students were super excited about the bountiful harvest! View photo album.
