Colorful blacktop is a hit at Craig

The blacktop at Craig School received some serious color over the summer allowing students to play in new fun and creative ways. The Craig School community had its official ribbon cutting ceremony on the colorful blacktop play area its annual Back-to-School Ice Cream Social on Thursday, September 10.

Children jumped right into the fun making use of every new colorful attribute at the inaugural romp on the dynamic new blacktop.

The vibrant new additions to the playground include: a world map, a United States map, a chess/checker board, and four square -- all painted right on the pavement.

Other new features include a basketball hoop for young students, funnel ball, and tether ball.

The project was a cooperative effort between the Craig Parent-Teacher Organization, the Niskayuna Community Foundation and the Niskayuna Central School District. The play space encourages creative and active play on what was previously blank, blacktop space.

Volunteers worked tirelessly late in the summer to get the play features ready for the September unveiling.
