On Wednesday, March 1, Niskayuna High School will be the site of a
Schenectady County Emergency Preparedness Drill that is taking place from 4
p.m. to 6 p.m. This is a “Point of Dispensing” drill, which is a test of the
medication dispensing plans in the case of a real public health emergency.
We are sharing this message to let staff, parents and community members know that there will be county and emergency response vehicles and members of the news media at Niskayuna High School on Wednesday afternoon and evening. This should not cause any undue concern.
The exercise was scheduled outside of school hours to limit the disruption to the school day and activities at the high school.
During the hours of the drill, participants will enter Blatnick Gym to receive a mock medication. The county is testing the number of people who can receive medication per each hour of the site.
Exercises such a this are vital to the success of emergency plans.
Only those who are pre-registered will be participating in this drill. At this time, the county has sufficient participants.
The district is pleased to assist Schenectady County with this important training activity.
