During the fall of 2016, the district began using a new system called School Messenger to communicate
district and school news and other important announcements, such as
weather-related delays and cancellations. Parents are connected through the
district's student management system.
It's important to note that School Messenger relies on the information that families submitted through the Returning Student Registration process this fall and that text messages for parents require an additional confirmation (see below). If you have not yet provided contact information for the 2016-17 year, please contact the main office of your child's school.
School Messenger supports e-mail, text messages and phone calls to parents, community and staff members. There are alerts for general district news, weather-related closings, School Board news and Continuing Education. Parents can select notifications and set contact preferences by logging into the Parent Portal and accessing the "InfoCenter" area.
If you are receiving e-mails, but not text messages...
Text messages require an additional confirmation. Assuming a text-capable cell phone number has been provided to the district, you can text "Y" to 67587 to confirm text messaging. Please note that each individual device must go through this confirmation process. If a text-capable number has not been provided, please call the main office of your child's school.

How often will I receive text messages? The district does not intend to use School Messenger frequently for text messages or phone calls. These are most likely to be used when a time-sensitive matter must be brought to the attention of families. Most routine communication from the system will be sent via e-mail. However, text messages will be sent via this system for snow days.
Will I be charged for the text messages that I receive from School Messenger? School Messenger does not charge recipients for text messages that they receive or send to the short code. However, wireless providers may charge for individual text messages, depending on the plan associated with the wireless device. Please consult your carrier if you are uncertain.
What if I don't receive an invitation? This most likely means that the correct number is not on file for you or that you have not yet completed the Returning Student Registration process. If you want to confirm or change your numbers, please call the main office of your child's school. If you have not yet completed Returning Student Registration, please do so by logging in to the Parent Portal and selecting "InfoCenter Student Registration."
What happens if I do not reply to the invitation message or do not reply right away? If you do not reply, you won’t receive any future texts from our schools. You can respond to the invitation message anytime. If you no longer have the invitation, you can opt in at any point in the future by texting "Y" to 67587.
What number(s) will the district send text messages to? Text messages will be sent to the SMS text message-capable numbers provided as part of the online Returning Student Registration process.
How do I know if my response to the invitation was successful? After you text one of the key words to the short code, the system will respond back with one of three messages: A registration confirmation; a message indicating that you have unsubscribed; or a help/unknown key word response.
What does it mean if I text "Y" and receive an error message in response? If you receive what appears to be an error message, it most likely means that short code text messaging is not enabled on your wireless subscription plan. You may wish to follow-up with your carrier for more information.
How do recipients opt-out of receiving text messages? You can do this by not responding to the text message invitation. You can also text “STOP” to 67587 at any time, opt out at http://schoolmessenger.com/txtmsg, or contact email@example.com.
