Strategic Plan Accomplishments

The development of the district strategic plan in 2016 initiated a systematic effort to transform student programs and support systems so all students each student is prepared to follow their own unique path to success. This effort involves stakeholders from across the district, working toward a common vision, including aligning technology, human resources, and facilities with the direction of student programs.

Tenets of the Strategic Plan

  • Drive the 21stcentury educational experience and outcomes
  • Ensure fiduciary and fiscal responsibilities in the creation, optimization and execution of budgetary processes
  • Guarantee efficient facilities maintenance, HR processes, and advancements in technology
  • Sustain a transparent and communicative relationship amongst leadership, Board of Education, staff, students, parents, and community

Curriculum & Program Accomplishments

  • Reports and recommendations from the School Start Time, K-5 Homework, Multiple Pathways and Capital Improvement Plan subcommittees of the Instructional Program Advisory Council, June 2018
  • Program Review for the World Language and Department of Art & Design, Board presentation in June 2018
  • Implementation of Year 1 Science & Engineering Technology recommendations from the Program Review (curriculum work, tech book for technology), 2017-18 school year
  • Professional Development Plan updated and presented to the Board of Education, June 2018
  • Subcommittee focused on expanding Nisky Academy offerings
  • Budget funds from 2018-19 to support purchasing of professional books for book studies through Nisky Academy
  • Nisky Academy Technology Courses held during August 2018
  • AimsWeb benchmarking assessments administered in grades K-1, reading
  • K-1 Response to Intervention (RTI) reading formally implemented
  • Data Review Teams (DRT) established, met three times between January and June 2018
  • Professional Development for DRTs
  • Two Technology Committees formed in the fall of 2017 – Professional Development and 1:1 Initiative
  • Librarians began work on lessons for Digital Citizenship
  • Three parent nights for Q&A about 1:1 Chromebooks in 6th grade
