The physical education program in Niskayuna is based upon New York State learning standards.
New York State Physical Education Learning Standards
Standard 1 – Personal Health and Fitness
Students will have the necessary knowledge and skills to establish and maintain physical fitness, participate in physical activity, and maintain personal health.
Standard 2 – A Safe and Healthy Environment
Students will acquire the knowledge and ability necessary to create and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
Standard 3 – Resource Management
Students will understand and be able to manage their personal and community resources.
Physical Education Graduation Requirements and High School Program
All students are required to earn two units of physical education in order to graduate. At Niskayuna High School, all students are required to enroll in and successfully complete a course in physical education for each semester they are in high school. Offerings include lifetime and team sports, health and fitness, lifeguard training, team water sports, and project adventure.

Middle School Physical Education Program
The middle school Physical Education (P.E.) program is aligned to the New York State Learning Standards of maintaining personal health and fitness; maintaining a safe and healthy environment; and accessing personal and community resources. Middle school students have P.E. every other day all year.
