Members of the Niskayuna High School administration hosted their 31st Annual Memorial Day Service Thursday, May 23.
In addition to recognizing several special guests in attendance who served in various branches of the military, the service also recognized all 54 alumni veterans who have passed.
Graduating seniors planning to go into branches of the military were also presented with certificates honoring their commitments to serving our country.
“Serving my country has always been a dream of mine, so I think it was a no brainer,” said Caitlyn Gibson, who is enrolling in the Coast Guard Academy this fall and will serve on active duty following school.
“I really want to have my life make an impact,” said Alexander Samaniuk, who will attend SUNY Brockport on an ROTC scholarship. “I want to make a difference in the world and I thought the Army is the best way to do that.”
There were also special performances by students in Bel Canto Voices under the direction of Mrs. Christina Pizzino-Catalano and Concert Band under the direction of Mr. Phil Pandori.
