Niskayuna High School artists recognized on national and local level

Talented student artists and writers from Niskayuna High School were recognized in this year’s Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and the New York State Art Teacher Association Region 6 High School 3D Art Show.

Scholastic Art & Writing Award Recipients

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are  a prestigious program that has celebrated young creativity since 1923. This national recognition highlights artistic excellence and provides opportunities for exhibition and scholarships.

  • Madeline Ehrlich (Grade 12) – Everyday Treasures, Acrylic on Canvas – Gold Key
  • Cole Costantino (Grade 10) – The Pond, Watercolor – Silver Key
  • Caroline Hennel (Grade 9) – Bun Bun, Scratchboard – Silver Key
  • Carolyn Kelly, Grade 12: Clean Up in Aisle 1!, Digital Art – Gold Key
  • Iris Liu (Grade 12) – Winner, Winner. Chicken Dinner, Pastel on Paper – Silver Key
  • Lesly Garcia (Grade 11) – A Man’s Job, Oil on Canvas – Silver Key
  • Marie Campoli (Grade 12) – Bugs Cooking in the Kitchen, Mixed Media – Honorable Mention
  • Sean Sung (Grade 9) – Confliction of Fin & Fang, Acrylic Paint, Gold Leaf, Polymer Clay – Honorable Mention

NYSATA Region 6 High School 3D Juried Show Selections

In addition, several students have had their artwork selected for the New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA) Region 6 High School 3D Juried Show.  Also known as “Art in Three Dimensions,” the annual art show featured 3D artwork from high schools in the Capital Region, hosted at the W.B. Haessig Art Gallery at Mohonasen High School.

  • Nora Leveillee – Hooked (ceramic, acrylic)
  • Kiley Augstein-Collins – Handwoven Wire Bracelet (metal)
  • Marisol Van Slyke – Descent of the Bluebird (yarn, paper)

These students continue to demonstrate creativity, dedication, and artistic excellence. Their work reflects both technical skill and a passion for artistic expression.
