Niskayuna High School has been named in the top three schools in the Capital Region by U.S. News and World Report.
The publication released their annual Best High Schools in America report last week, ranking Niskayuna third in the Albany area.
“Among the top three districts [in the report], our students are the most diverse and the most economically disadvantaged of the schools,” Carl Mummenthey, Superintendent of Niskayuna Central School District said. “At Niskayuna, our strength comes from our diversity.”
Schools are ranked based on how students perform on state-required tests, graduation rates and how well students are prepared for college.
The report shows Niskayuna students were proficient in mathematics (97%), reading (96%) and science (93%). It also shows nearly all students graduate (95%) and nearly half take AP courses and exams (45%).
“We celebrate multiple pathways for success and our staff’s focus on the development of our students,” said John Rickert, Principal of Niskayuna High School.
All of this work is designed to advance our vision, fulfill our mission, and provide world-class educational opportunities for Niskayuna students. Mummenthey commended the high school’s leadership, faculty and staff, and students on this remarkable achievement.
This distinction reinforces the idea that at Niskayuna everything we do is to advance our vision, fulfill our mission, and provide world-class educational opportunities for students.
