Seven Niskayuna Central School District students presented their independent research at this year’s Greater Capital Region Science and Engineering Fair (GCRSEF) at RPI in March.
Here is a quick synopsis of each student and their results:
Tejas Jacob – Grade 8 – Van Antwerp Middle School
- Improving the Aerodynamic Efficiency of Airplanes Using a Nature-inspired Adaptive Wing
- 1st place Junior Award: GCRSEF Certificate, Thermo Fischer Scientific JIC Certificate, gold medal, $750 from RPI School of Science
- Invitation to STANYS State Science Congress in Syracuse, NY
- Invitation to Thermo-Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge (JIC).

Jason Lian – Grade 9 – Niskayuna High School

Simran Utturkar – Grade 11 – Niskayuna High School

Tarun Jacob – Grade 12 – Niskayuna High School
- TonoSense: A Novel Device for Intraocular Pressure Measurement
- 2nd Place Senior Division Award: GCRSEF Certificate, silver medal
- Invitation to Regeneron ISEF in Los Angeles, CA, $750 from RPI School of Science
- US Metric Association ISEF Award
Tarun Jacob will be traveling to Los Angeles from May 11 – 17 to present his research at ISEF (The International Science and Engineering Fair sponsored by Regeneron).
Tejas Jacob will join James and Jason Lian in traveling to Syracuse on June 9 to present their research projects at STANYS NYS Science Congress.
