Nominating petitions are currently available for individuals interested in serving on the Niskayuna Central School District Board of Education. Two seats will be up for election this year on Tuesday, May 16, which is the same day as the school budget vote.
Those interested in running for this important volunteer role in our community can pick up a petition between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. from the district clerk at the District Office, 1239 Van Antwerp Road. In order to appear on the ballot, a candidate must return a petition with the signatures of 44 qualified district voters by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 17. District clerk Cynthia Gagnon can be reached by phone at (518) 377-4666, ext. 50706, or by email at cgagnon@niskyschools.org.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, qualified voters in the school district, and have resided in the district continuously for at least one year before the election. For more detail about Board membership, please see “An Overview of Serving as a Board of Education Member,” on the district website.
The terms of the Board members elected this year will begin on July 1, 2023 and expire on June 30, 2026.
